Masaharu Nakagawa, Senior Vice Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in Japan, called on Mr. Hidetoshi Nishimura, Executive Director of ERIA on 3rd May 2010.

Mr. Nishimura briefly described the recent development of ERIA. They exchanged views on a range of issues relating to innovation in the region and human resource development from a business perspective. For East Asia to realize the ASEAN Economic Community, the region has to overcome several common challenges. These include the nurturing of global human resources and supporting industries. They also discussed the ERIA's role toward the building of the AEC.
