The Medical Excellence in Asia (MExx) project is a healthcare initiative officially endorsed and supported by the Government of Japan to achieve good health and well-being for people in the ASEAN member states (AMS) through multisectoral collaborations and partnerships. ERIA oversees multiple MExx projects in different ERIA member states, which we intend to amplify to the greater ASEAN region and beyond.
The health and well-being of individuals, communities, and nation-states are among the most invaluable assets of human society. At the same time, they are excellent indicators of economic and social development as well as progress towards equity and equality. Hence, various health and wellness indicators of a nation-state and region can guide us in achieving prospective goals and forging a new path forward.
Given the current global health contexts and the numerous challenges and opportunities we are facing within and surrounding the ASEAN region, the MExx initiative envisions a world where all people in Asia have access to quality and efficient healthcare services and can thrive with an optimal quality of life. Based on a firm belief that healthcare is an opportunity for growth and a driver for innovation, the MExx initiative works with multisectoral (industry-government-academia) stakeholders in the healthcare field to address specific challenges that acutely need swift actions and engaged collaborations. Through our missions, this aspiring initiative aims to contribute to the expansion of business opportunities, the development of healthcare technologies and innovations, and the dissemination of project outcomes that may lead to constructive policy recommendations for the region. Accordingly, it is imperative that each AMS and its partners strive to realise the transformative prioritisation of the healthcare ecosystem that encompasses safe, quality, accessible, and just healthcare service delivery.
Since 2022, ERIA has been leading several projects examining cutting-edge medical technologies. As a leading international research organisation in the region, ERIA remains a staunch advocate for ‘Health for All.’ Through our stewardship of the MExx initiative, ERIA is committed to upholding our visions and missions so that the healthcare sector in the greater Asia region can appreciate mutual growth, prosperity, and development.
