Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA) Indonesia mission led by Mr. Kiyoshi Shikano, the head of the delegation, visited ERIA Annex Office on September 24, 2012.

The objective of JEITA is to promote the healthy manufacturing, international trade and consumption of electronics products and components in order to contribute to the overall development of the electronics and IT industries, and thereby further Japan's economic development and cultural prosperity. The Association is also actively promoting environmental preservation countermeasures, including those to combat global warming.

Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura, Executive Director of ERIA, welcomed Mr. Kiyoshi Shikano and other 14 members of the delegation. Prof. Nishimura explained the history of ERIA, its establishment process, the progress, and the outcome of the recent activities. After the explanation by Prof. Nishimura, he conducted office tour introducing office environment to the delegation.

Mr. Hiroyuki Kato, Special Advisor to Executive Director of ERIA, made a presentation on "Enhancing ASEAN Connectivity". He briefed ASEAN's outline and history including ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and the relation between ASEAN and ERIA. He also touched upon one of the ERIA's flagship projects and contribution to AEC, Comprehensive Asia Development Plan (CADP)'s progress. It was concluded with the explanation about the Automobile Industry in ASEAN, especially for Indonesia, Jakarta.
