Joint Symposium on "ASEAN Connectivity : Inside and to the Outside" was held on 6 July 2010, Singapore, co-organized by ASEAN Secretariat, Federation of Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in ASEAN (FJCCIA), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Embassy of Japan, Singapore and ERIA.

Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, Secretary General of ASEAN, delivered a keynote speech on "Expectation for Realization of ASEAN Economic Community and Improvement of Economic Connectivity in ASEAN/East Asia". The symposium was closed by Mr. Hidetoshi Nishimura, Executive Director, ERIA.

A meaningful and effective discussion pertaining to the impact of the progress of economic integration in East Asia was conducted during the symposium. ERIA is contemplating the preparation of Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity and the works towards the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community.
