The Japan Economic Foundation and the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs held an International Symposium "Seeking the Optimum Future Shape of Regional Economic Integration in the Asia Pacific Region" on 11th October 2010 in Wellington, New Zealand, followed by a Round Table Meeting on 12th October.

Mr Hidetoshi Nishimura, Executive Director, ERIA, participated in the symposium and the Round Table Discussion.

The symposium was attended by scholars and government officials of EAS countries who deliberated on the current status of economic integration and the partnerships in the region. The Round Table discussed the role of trade and economic cooperation initiatives and their probable outcomes in the East Asia region.
