ERIA Capacity Building Nay Pyi Taw Seminar and Workshop 2012 themed "Globalization and Development Strategy in Myanmar toward ASEAN Economic Integration" was held in Myanmar on October 1 to 2, 2012
It was in cooperation with Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development, Yangon Institute of Economics, Bangkok Research Center, and JETRO Yangon. It was opened by Dr. U Kan Zaw, Minister, Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development of Myanmar. Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura, Executive Director of ERIA made opening remarks.
This is the 5th time that ERIA conducts Capacity Building Seminar in Nay Pyi Taw since 2008. This year, with the consultation from the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development, ERIA upgraded the Capacity Building Program for Myanmar from one day seminar to two day and workshops and newly included an interactive working session for the four Country's current important topics.
More than 200 participants from government institutions, universities and private sectors has been actively participated in seminar and workshop with 4 classes: Development of Agribusiness in Myanmar, Foreign Exchange Management in the midst of kyat appreciation, Effective Aid Management and the Development of Myanmar and Improvement of Investment Environment in Myanmar.
During the Seminar, Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura, Executive Director of ERIA, made opening remarks. Prof. Fukunari Kimura, Chief Economist of ERIA, made a presentation on "Production Network in East Asia; Future Perspective of Myanmar" and Mr. Toshihiro Kudo, Senior Researcher, IDE-JETRO explained on "Industrialization Strategy and Myanmar Comprehensive Development Vision (MCDV) which ERIA is supporting.
