Phnom Penh, 5 March 2025: ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Dr Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth, and Sport (MoEYS) of Cambodia, during his visit to Phnom Penh for the Cambodia Outlook Conference, hosted by the Cambodia Development Resource Institute (CDRI), and the CDRI Board Meeting.

President Watanabe expressed his deep appreciation to H.E. Dr Hang Chuon Naron for his longstanding support of ERIA since its inception. As a former Governing Board Member representing Cambodia, Dr Naron played a pivotal role in shaping ERIA’s early development as a leading policy research institution in ASEAN and East Asia.

Their discussions focused on strengthening ERIA’s role in the region, particularly in supporting ASEAN’s response to global economic challenges. They also explored opportunities for collaboration in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to drive economic diversification and equip Cambodia’s youth with the necessary skills to succeed in an evolving technological landscape.
