ERIA President Pays Courtesy Call On Yoichi Miyazawa, Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry

Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura, President of ERIA, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Yoichi Miyazawa, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan on 9 July 2015 in Tokyo, Japan.

Prof. Nishimura gave a briefing on ERIA's organizational structure, recent developments, and major research publications. He highlighted the outcomes of the Mekong-Five Economic Forum that ERIA co-organized on 3 July, and a meeting he had with U Thein Sein, President of Myanmar, on 26 June 2015. He also explained the mechanism and role of ERIA to support the Chair of ASEAN and East Asia Summit, introducing several statements from the economic ministers meetings and the summit last year.

The Minister noted ERIA's activities and mandates from the leaders of ASEAN and East Asia Summit countries and expressed his willingness to continue to support ERIA.
