Jakarta, 4 December 2023: The Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) with the Mission of the Republic of Korea to ASEAN and The Embassy of France for Indonesia, Timor Leste, and ASEAN, initiated a special seminar dedicated to exploring and advancing the ASEAN Blue Economy.

The Blue Economy Seminar highlighted the importance of innovation. The potential for advancing the blue economy in the region, especially in the newly explored sectors, has proposed a high-value potential. To achieve prosperity for all, tangible steps shall be consulted inclusively, and cooperation are welcomed. Partnerships between South Korea and ASEAN through the Korea-ASEAN Solidarity Initiative (KASI) and with France in the Practical Cooperation Areas has signified a collective commitment towards enhancing the blue economy's prominence in the ASEAN and global arena.

The seminar also emphasised the importance to integrate sustainability and inclusivity in policy-making. Looking forward to the governmental transition of Indonesia, the future government should consider development of blue economy. Achieving a balance of interests is pivotal; hence, facilitating stronger partnerships with the people remains crucial for future success. Ensuring that people are heard and encouraging mutual listening among stakeholders stands as a key factor in this journey.
