The 2nd Research Institute Network (RIN) Meeting for the fiscal year 2012 was held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on October 29, 2012 under the chairmanship of Dr. Hank LIM Giok-Hay from Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA). Dr. Hank Lim opened the meeting and stressed the growth of importance of the role of 16 countries network (RIN).

Session 1 is moderated by Prof. Yasuhiro Yamada, President, BRC-JETRO moderated the meeting. Prof. Fukunari Kimura, Chief Economist of ERIA, presented the status of research project in FY 2012. Dr. Ponciano S. Intal, Senior Researcher of ERIA, reported Mid-Term Review of the Implementation of AEC Blueprint which will be submitted to upcoming Summit in November. Mr. Yasushi Iwata, General Manager of ERIA, briefly explained on ERIA's activities since last RIN meeting in July 2012.

In the Session 2 moderated by Dr. Hank Lim, the members discussed on "RIN Statement on Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership". The Statement will be announced on November 21, 2012.

The members also discussed the 2nd RIN Statement on "Inequality and Inclusive Growth in East Asia" which drafted by Dr. Josef T. Yap, President, Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS). Its first draft will be completed in January 2013.

Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura, Executive Director of ERIA, made closing remarks. Prof. Nishimura welcomed the opinions and views for RIN Statement on "RCEP" and he ensured that this RIN Statement would also become the basis for contributing towards development of ASEAN and for supporting the Summit activities this year.

The meeting noted that ERIA's research has grown in both quality and quantity. The RIN gave academic and practical recommendations to ERIA for its forthcoming projects.
