The New Normal: Elderly Life and Care Post COVID-19

Completed

The number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia keeps increasing. The elderly face the highest risk due to the new situation, including health, economic, and social risk. Some of them may experience loneliness and depression due to limited contact with relatives and friends. Some others may have lost their jobs and became economically insecure. Additionally, elderly care programmes depend on significant physical interaction.

A discussion is needed to understand the ‘new normal’ for the elderly’s way of living, care, and social protection during and after COVID-19. This discussion is expected to inform Indonesia’s elderly policy both to address challenges brought on by COVID-19 and to prepare the country’s transitions towards an ageing population.

To explore innovative policy solutions, and also to commemorate the 24th National Elderly Day in Indonesia, the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), in collaboration with the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), will conduct an International Webinar event on ‘The New Normal: Elderly Life and Care Post COVID-19’, which will be held on:

Date                : Thursday, 28 May 2020

Time                : 01:30 – 4:15 PM (GMT +7, Jakarta Time)
