The High-Level Forum on Trade, Investment, and Industry (HLF on TII): G20 Trade, Investment, and Industry Working Group (TIIWG)

Completed

The High-Level Forum on Trade, Investment, and Industry (The HLF on TII) is a side event that will support the discussion on the priority issues of the G20 Trade, Investment, and Industry Working Group (TIIWG) Indonesia. Under the G20 Indonesia Presidency, the G20 Members hold the privilege to shape global trade policies for sustainable and inclusive recovery and growth, representing interests within and beyond its member countries. As reflected in Indonesia presidency theme of 'Recover Together, Recover Stronger', we must ensure that the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is the forefront agenda for G20 members.

In the two years after the pandemic, the global economy has continued to recover, but many factors are impacting the pace of the recovery. This includes the rising food and energy prices, the spread of COVID-19 variants, supply chain disruptions, and growing geopolitical tensions. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has wiped-out years of progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). While global recovery continues, it remains uneven and insufficient to reverse the economic and social consequences of the pandemic, especially for people living in vulnerable situations.

As the foundation of collective economic recovery, this event will take the opportunity to cooperate and discuss in a fruitful way with all G20 Members to align the Trade, Investment, and Industry agenda with the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The event will gather prominent people from the government and business sector including leading international organizations that will promote constructive discussion on better strategies to promote economic recovery by aligning trade, investment, and industry policies. The outcome of the discussion will strengthen the achievement of G20 TIIWG Indonesia deliverables this year.

Aside from discussing future economic challenges, the HLF on TII will also discuss enhancing the role of the WTO and Multilateral Trading System (MTS) in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Additionally, it will discuss on how sustainable investment supports the resilience of the global economic recovery as well as how Industry 4.0 can lead to more inclusive and sustainable industrialization. The forum will also highlight the importance of digital transformation and sustainable development.
