The second workshop on "Regional Production Chains, Host-site Institutions and Technological Upgrading: Evidence from Automotives, Clothing, and Semiconductors in Southeast Asia and China" was held on 24-25 February 2013, in Penang, Malaysia with 13 Working Group (WG) research members from ASEAN and China.

The objective of this workshop is to discuss the progress of the research by each team member, after data collection and preliminary empirical analyses.

During the meeting, the WG members presented their papers and rigorously discussed about the appropriate methodologies and preliminary findings. The members also solicited comments and suggestions from the project team leader and ERIA's chief economist to strengthen their papers towards final publication.

In the end, the WG members decided to disseminate its works and present the results at next workshop which will be held on 1-2 July 2013. After the completion of the research project, the collection of papers will be edited for special issue's journal publication and edited book volume.
