H.E. Dr. Thanat Khoman passed away in Bangkok on Friday, 4 March, at the age of 102. He was among five foreign ministers, considered ASEAN's founding fathers, who signed the 'Bangkok Declaration' on the establishment of ASEAN on 8 August 1967. The other ministers were from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore.

His contribution to ASEAN and to the region will long be remembered.

ERIA extends its deepest sympathies to his family.
