ERIA Joins 84th Meeting of ASEAN COSTI

Bohol, 19-20 October 2023: The Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) took part in the 84th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology, and Innovation (COSTI-84). Koji Hachiyama, ERIA's Chief Operating Officer, represented ERIA and spoke of its potential assistance for ASEAN COSTI.

Hachiyama outlined ERIA's diverse research activities, covering Industry 4.0, energy, agriculture, environment, healthcare, and the digitalisation of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

He also highlighted a significant ERIA initiative, the launch of the ERIA Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Centre (E-DISC). Hachiyama described E-DISC's key priorities, including digital trade, data governance, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He stressed E-DISC's essential goals, such as promoting public-private dialogue, encouraging regional open innovation, nurturing technologically-savvy talent, and offering practical policy proposals.

Members of ASEAN COSTI appreciated ERIA's presentation and expressed expectations of future support from ERIA.
