Hanoi, 26 October 2023: A delegation from the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) participated in the OECD Southeast Asia Ministerial Forum in Hanoi, Viet Nam. This annual conference was organised by the OECD Southeast Asia Regional Programme, and it attracted the participation of more than 40 countries from OECD member states and Southeast Asian nations, along with various international organisations.
During the opening session, Mathias Cormann, Secretary-General of the OECD, and Tran Luu Quang, Deputy Prime Minister of Viet Nam, delivered their opening remarks.
Dr Aladdin Rillo, Senior Economic Advisor at ERIA, delivered a statement on the occasion. Dr Rillo first emphasised the resilience of international production networks in the region, aiming to attract investors from around the world. He mentioned that these resilient supply chains should align with the G7/G20 principles of supply chain resilience. In addition, Dr Rillo also stressed the importance of digital innovation and circular economy in supply chain management to attract sustainable foreign direct investments (FDIs) from around the world, in line with the commitment of the ASEAN Community beyond 2025. He noted, 'Southeast Asian countries have committed to these policies; the next step is to turn them into practical, long-term goals,' highlighting ERIA’s role as an international think tank that supports ASEAN and East Asia.
