Unpacking the RCEP Agreement: Dialogue #5: Customs Procedures and Trade Facilitation

The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) marks the establishment of a free trade agreement among the 15 member states. The RCEP Customs Procedures and Trade Facilitation Provisions aims to foster and to ensure predictability, consistency, and transparency in the application of customs laws and regulations. The participating members is also envisaged to provide trade facilitation measures related to import to import, export, or transit formalities and procedures in order to strengthen environment for global and regional supply chains. The ERIA’s Capacity Building Programme with the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) will co-host a ‘Public-Private Dialogues: Unpacking the RCEP Agreement#5- Customs Procedures and Trade Facilitation' on 14 July. This session will enable different business interests to assess their level of preparedness and understanding of how the RCEP chapter on customs procedures and trade facilitation could be a game changer in the services industry.
