Co-organised with the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of Indonesia, the symposium will bring together policymakers, academia, organisations, businesses and promising startups to discuss inclusive digital transformation in advancing sustainable development in the region. This discussion area is in line with the three strategic economic thursts under Indonesia's ASEAN Chairmanship 2023 which are (i) Rebuilding Regional Growth, Connectivity, and New Competitiveness (recovery rebuilding); (ii) Accelerating Inclusive Digital Economy Transformation and Participation (digital economy); and (iii) Promoting Sustainable Economic Growth for a Resilient Future (sustainability).

The symposium will also launch the DISC. The establishment of the DISC was acknowledged in the Chairman's Statement of the 17th East Asia Summit in 2022. Based in Jakarta, the centre will serve as both a virtual and physical platform, bringing together all relevant parties commiteed to collaboratively generation, managing, and sharing knowledge related to the transition to digitally driven sustainable economic growth within ASEAN and East Asia region.
