Experts Meet Ahead of G20 High-Level Policy Dialogue on Trade, Investment, Industry

Jakarta, 27 April 2022: Several economic experts met in April to prepare for a high-level policy dialogue to be held in mid-July 2022. The High-level Policy Dialogue on Trade, Investment, and Industry Working Group (TII-WG) is organised by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and the International Energy Agency (IEA) and will be a side event of the Group of Twenty (G20) meeting that will be held virtually in July 2022.

At the April meeting, ERIA’s Lead Advisor on Southeast Asia Dr Lili Yan Ing, ERIA’s Senior Economist Dr Fauziah Zen, and ERIA’s Senior Economist Dr Doan Thi Thanh Ha were joined by the G20 Presidency on Trade, Investment, and Industry team that included Director of APEC Negotiations and International Organization of Ministry of Trade Mr Reza Pahlevi, Deputy Minister of Investment Dr Riyatno, Special Advisor to the Minister of Investment Dr Indra Darmawan, Special Staff to the Minister of Investment on National Entrepreneurship Development Mr M. Pradana Indraputra, Deputy Director of Intra-regional Cooperation of the Ministry of Investment Mr Fajar Usman, and Director of International Industrial Access of the Ministry of Industry Mr Yan Sibarang Tandiele.

Indonesia’s G20 expert team, led by Dr Ing and Prof Rodrik, will discuss economic recovery, digital transformation, and sustainable development at the dialogue. At the pre-dialogue meeting, Dr Ing reaffirmed ERIA’s commitment to support the dialogue. Also discussed was the second G20 TII-WG meeting to be held on 4–7 July 2022, which will tackle three priority issues: World Trade Organization reform, response to the COVID-19 pandemic and global health architecture, and sustainable investment for economic recovery.
