The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the operations of businesses across the ASEAN region. The impact of this disruption will be both short and long-term. AmCham Indonesia and the Economic Research Institute of ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) created a rapid survey in April to understand the evolving needs of US companies in the region. Five months later, ERIA and AmCham Indonesia created the survey described in this report, a more in-depth investigation of how foreign companies in ASEAN have responded and what plans they have in place moving forward. 24 chambers and business organizations representing foreign companies were involved in the implementation of this survey.
The results indicate how adversely firms were impacted and which industries experienced the greatest impact, which factors contributed to the impact, the extent of supply chain disruption, countries where firms are reducing operations, whether firms are considering reshoring, when firms expect business to stabilize, what new technologies and innovations firms will continue to employ in the future, and many more.
