Completed

Joint Webinar between Agriculture Working Group (AWG) and Development Working Group (DWG) on G-20 Agenda

To end hunger and achieve food security, especially amid the time of crises, it requires a cross-sectoral and holistic approach. The COVID-19 pandemic has posed severe impacts, exposed the lacking in the current food system, and provide opportunities to take actions beyond business as usual. In 2021, the G20 put forward Matera Declaration on Food Security, Nutrition and Food System which strengthens the G20 commitment in contributing to SDG 2 (End Hunger) target through multi-sector advancement actions and policies. Among many, we underscore the importance of accelerating digital transformation and increasing catalytic investment, especially the rural financing, for the agriculture which are some of the main challenges and to-be-seen as opportunities faced by farmers in the developing countries.

Digital agriculture/farming enables the increasing the efficiency of agriculture production and permits to increase market opportunities. This approach will transform farming through better prediction, more precise management, and improve value chains. Broadening opportunities stimulate 5 increasing participation of more actors to the agriculture supply chain, including women and youth in rural areas.
