Paths for Decarbonising the Transport Sector in ASEAN
Project Overview
In EAS (East Asia Summit) countries, progress has been made in recent years toward electrifying the transport sector. Electric vehicles (EVs) are considered as the important technological options for those EAS countries toward air quality improvement in the urban area, energy security enhancement for shifting away from oil dependence, and climate change mitigation — if these are coupled with low-carbon power generation sources.
It is important to understand the popular types/size of EVs (small, medium, or large) and factors affecting the consumers' decision over EVs for policy-planning purpose. Also, use of biofuels is critically important in the selected ASEAN countries for decarbonisation of the transport sector.
Therefore, this study will conduct analysis on the sales of EVs by type/size, and policy survey of biofuels use, and conduct quantitative analysis to accurately assess the path for decarbonisation of the transport sector in ASEAN.
