ERIA School of Government Visits PT SUMCO Indonesia to Advance Semiconductor Policy Dialogue
Bekasi, 15 January 2026: Following the ERIA Executive Dialogue on Semiconductor Policy held in Japan from 19–23 November 2025, the ERIA School of Government (So G), together with H.E. Faisol Riza, Vice Minister of Industry of Indonesia, and representatives from the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry (BKPM), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), and the Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), conducted a follow-up visit to the manufacturing plant of PT SUMCO Indonesia in Bekasi.
The visit aimed to advance substantive policy dialogue on semiconductor co-operation, with a particular focus on semiconductor manufacturing processes, including silicon wafer production in Indonesia, as well as broader industrial and policy strategies for developing the semiconductor sector. Participants also undertook a guided facility tour to gain first-hand insights into the operational and technological aspects of wafer manufacturing.
The discussions laid the groundwork for strengthening collaboration within Indonesia’s semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem and for identifying potential areas of future co-operation between government stakeholders and industry.
This engagement reaffirms ERIA’s continued commitment to promoting industrial and technological co-operation between Indonesia and Japan, particularly in advanced manufacturing and semiconductor development.
