ERIA School of Government Features Degas in 3rd Round of Semiconductor Policy Dialogue

Tokyo, 19 November 2025: The ERIA School of Government (So G), in collaboration with Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), conducted the third round of the Executive Dialogue on Semiconductor Policy at the METI Headquarters in Tokyo. This round featured agri-fintech company Degas and its spatial model AI innovations.

The dialogue gathered representatives from Indonesia, including H.E. Nezar Patria, Vice Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs; H.E. Faisol Riza, Vice Minister of Industry; and Mr Sofyari Rahman, Industry Attaché at the Embassy of Indonesia in Tokyo. Degas was represented by Mr Yohei Nakayama, Co-COO and a leading expert in the AI landscape, along with other key executives.

Discussions centred on Degas’ large spatial model combined with a large language model, demonstrated through use cases in disaster management, agriculture, marine monitoring, and deforestation tracking. The dialogue also explored potential applications in Indonesia, including forest fire mitigation, flood prediction, and disease prevention in agriculture – particularly in palm oil plantations.

The session further highlighted opportunities for deeper collaboration with industry partners in applying these technologies to address Indonesia’s key development challenges. This round reinforces the ERIA So G’s commitment to strengthening regional policy co-operation and shared strategic priorities.
