ERIA School of Government Convenes 8th Semiconductor Policy Dialogue with NTT DATA in Tokyo

Tokyo, 21 November 2025: The ERIA School of Government (So G), in collaboration with Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), conducted the eighth round of the Executive Dialogue on Semiconductor Policy with NTT DATA at the company’s headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. NTT DATA is a global leader in AI, digital business, and technology services, with satellite and disaster management solutions amongst its key capabilities.

The dialogue brought together representatives from Indonesia, including H.E. Nezar Patria, Vice Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs, and Mr Sofyari Rahman, Industry Attaché at the Embassy of Indonesia in Tokyo. NTT DATA was represented by Mr Satoru Yanagimachi, Deputy Head of the Public and Social Infrastructure Segment, along with other executives.

Discussions covered an overview of NTT DATA’s disaster management solutions (early warning systems) – which had previously been provided to the Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs – satellite-based 3D mapping solutions, and an outline of NTT DATA Indonesia’s operations, including its engagements with the country’s public sector. Vice Minister Nezar Patria acknowledged the longstanding co-operation between Indonesia and NTT DATA through the Disaster Prevention Information System (DPIS), as well as the potential use of NTT DATA’s satellite imagery solutions in Indonesia.

The session reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between industry and government, particularly in leveraging data-driven solutions to support regional development and broader industrial policy co-operation. This round further underscores the ERIA So G’s commitment to strengthening regional policy co-operation and advancing shared strategic priorities.
