ERIA's Review of ASEAN Post-2015 Health Development Agenda 2021-2025 and Health Development Outlook Contributes to the 46th ASEAN Summit
ASEAN Member States (AMS) have adopted a crucial blueprint of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, which is specifically reinforced by the sectoral work plan of the ASEAN Post-2015 Health Development Agenda 2021-2025 (APHDA). As APHDA entered its final stage, ERIA undertook a formative assessment of APHDA implementation and to prepare the ASEAN Post-2025 Health Outlook, which aligns with the Sustainable Development Agenda (SDG), in response to a request from the AMS. The findings of the aforementioned exercises inform the upcoming priorities of the ASEAN Post-2025 Health Development Agenda.
The contribution of this Project is recognised at the ASEAN Summit. In conjunction with the 46th ASEAN Summit, which was held on 26-27 May 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, under the chairmanship of Malaysia, ERIA's support to AMS through this Project's deliverables was highly recognised. As another great accolade, the recognition was stipulated in the Chairman's Statement of the 46th ASEAN Summit, especially under point 78. As an excerpt, ASEAN Leaders clearly reveals that: 'We welcomed the Review of the ASEAN Post-2025 Health Development Agenda and Work Programs 2021-2025 and the development of the ASEAN Post-2025 Health Development Outlook: Achieving SDGs and Beyond, supported by Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). The review will guide strategic health sector planning through 2026 and beyond to realise a healthy and sustainable ASEAN Community'.
From this Project, ERIA will remain strongly committed to supporting AMS by providing evidence-based policy recommendations through research and capacity-building projects.
