Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura, Executive Director of ERIA had a meeting with Mr. Fujio Mitarai, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Canon Inc. on October 23, 2013 in Tokyo, Japan. Mr. Mitarai is also designated to take office as the Governor of ERIA representing Japan, effective July 1st, 2013.

Prof. Nishimura explained to the Governor designate about ERIA's history since its establishment and its role and contributions towards establishing Community building in the region. He highlighted the outcomes from the ASEAN Summit and related meetings and the recognition of ERIA activities in the summit meetings.

Mr. Mitarai expressed his appreciation for ERIA's works towards economic integration in ASEAN and East Asia and expected ERIA to further contribute to the region.
