Jakarta, 3 September 2026: ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe welcomed Dr Yayat Ruyat of Indonesia’s National Defence Council for a courtesy meeting at the ERIA Office in Jakarta.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on the role of the National Defence Council and potential areas of co-operation with ERIA, particularly in the field of geoeconomics.

Discussions also touched upon the possibility of establishing a national geoeconomic forum as a platform for policy dialogue, knowledge exchange, and strategic discussions on emerging regional and global economic challenges.

President Watanabe reaffirmed ERIA’s readiness to support evidence-based policy discussions on issues related to economic resilience, regional co-operation, and geoeconomic strategy.

The meeting concluded with a shared interest in exploring future opportunities for collaboration between ERIA and the National Defence Council.
