ERIA and Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade Advance Joint Trade Policy Research

Jakarta, 27 October 2026: ERIA and the Trade Policy Agency of Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade continued their joint efforts to strengthen evidence-based trade policymaking through an editorial meeting for a special collaborative edition of the Trade Policy Journal (TPJ), held at ERIA’s office in Jakarta.

The meeting marked the second stage of the initiative, following a policy paper writing workshop held earlier this year. Authors, editors, and reviewers came together to strengthen the analytical rigour, methodological soundness, and policy relevance of 10 manuscripts addressing Indonesia’s trade policy priorities.

Dr Aladdin D. Rillo, ERIA’s Managing Director for Policy Design and Operations, delivered the welcome remarks, emphasising the importance of translating high-quality research into practical policy recommendations. Mr Muhammad Suaib Sulaiman, Secretary of the Trade Policy Agency, then officially opened the meeting.

Participants included TPJ Editorial Board members Prof. Zamroni Salim and Dr Rifan Ardianto, as well as reviewers Prof. Achmad Suryana and Dr Dian Revindo, both from prominent Indonesian universities.

The final manuscripts are expected to be compiled into a special edition of the TPJ for publication in early December 2026, marking the culmination of this joint capacity-building initiative.

Through this partnership, ERIA and the Ministry of Trade aim to strengthen institutional research capacity and support more effective, evidence-based trade policymaking in Indonesia.
