Startups are the driving force behind innovation in products, services, and technologies, steering the competitive nature of economies and generating employment. Promoting inclusive entrepreneurship specifically for startups could help nations increase the global GDP and further the pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by both increasing participation from and leveraging technologies to benefit under-represented/marginalized communities including women, LGBTQIA+, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), and grassroots ecosystems. For instance, framing, implementing, and supporting policies that create equal opportunities for under-represented communities could advance SDGs and take a leap towards unlocking the full potential of startups, driving social innovation, and creating impact for years to come.
The Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) in partnership with the Startup20 Taskforce under G20 India hosted a thematic session on Startup 4 Inclusion – The Role of Startup20 under G20 India.
