The ASEAN Regional Guidelines for Sustainable Agriculture in ASEAN were adopted at the 44th AMAF Meeting on 26 October 2022, followed by the adoption of the Action Plan on Sustainable Agriculture in ASEAN at the 46th AMAF Meeting on 24 October 2024. To support the implementation of both the Guidelines and the Action Plan, ERIA conducted a scoping study to identify key technology and policy priorities. The study engaged experts from all ASEAN Member States and was based on responses to a structured interview questionnaire.

The report presents the current status of sustainable agriculture in the region and highlights priority initiatives for advancing sustainable and circular agriculture at both regional and national levels. Notably, it revealed significant disparities in initiatives between CLMV and non-CLMV countries and identified the most prioritised strategies amongst the 28 listed in the Guidelines. The findings are intended to support the formulation of practical actions aligned with the Guidelines and Action Plan, complete with feasible targets and timelines for each ASEAN Member State.
