Jakarta, 27 August 2025: ERIA, in collaboration with Mitsubishi Research Institute Inc. (MRI), continued its engagement with the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) Deputies through a focused dialogue under the ACMF Action Plan.

Centred on developing the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) ecosystem in ASEAN, the discussion built on momentum from the ACMF Deputies II Meeting held on 25 July. This initiative is co-led with the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC Malaysia), which serves as lead coordinator of the ACMF under Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship.

The session was part of an ongoing consultation process launched at the ACMF Deputies I Meeting earlier this year, and further enriched by feedback from regulatory bodies and capital market institutions during a closed-door dialogue at the ASEAN Investment Conference on 8 April 2025. The 27 August meeting advanced efforts to finalise VCM guidance that will underpin a strong, credible, and well-functioning regional ecosystem.

Together with MRI, ERIA facilitated an interactive exchange with ACMF Deputies, focusing on practical measures to advance ASEAN’s VCM development. The session combined presentations on project progress and outcomes with an open dialogue to capture the Deputies’ feedback on ensuring integrity, robustness, and interoperability across regional carbon markets.

The final project report, consolidating these insights, is scheduled for release in October 2025.
