ERIA and Philippine Central Bank Deepen Collaboration on Regional Economic Integration

Manila, 10 June 2025: ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe met with His Excellency Eli M. Remolona Jr., Governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), during an official visit to Manila.

President Watanabe reaffirmed ERIA’s strong commitment to supporting the Government of the Philippines, particularly as the country prepares to assume the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2026.

Governor Remolona welcomed ERIA’s continued engagement and emphasised its valuable role in promoting evidence-based policymaking, especially in the context of regional financial cooperation during the upcoming Chairmanship.

The two leaders exchanged views on key regional financial priorities, including cross-border payments, digital finance, and the development of resilient regional financial frameworks. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration in support of ASEAN’s economic integration and financial stability.
