ERIA and India Reaffirm Strategic Ties in Energy and Regional Development

Jakarta, 21 May 2025: ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency Jayant N. Khobragade, Ambassador of the Republic of India to ASEAN, at the Permanent Mission of India to ASEAN in Jakarta.

During the meeting, Ambassador Khobragade expressed appreciation for ERIA’s continued efforts and close cooperation with the Government of India. He highlighted both past and ongoing collaboration, especially in the energy sector.

President Watanabe, in turn, conveyed his sincere thanks for India’s steadfast support of ERIA’s initiatives. He also noted the significance of the upcoming ERIA Governing Board and Ambassadors’ Meetings, and welcomed India’s active participation.

The discussion also covered key regional challenges and opportunities, focusing on energy transition, global supply chain resilience, and sustainable tourism. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties and identified new avenues for collaboration to advance regional prosperity and sustainability.
