Jakarta, 22 July 2025: ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe welcomed Professor Bambang Brodjonegoro, Dean of the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), during a courtesy visit to ERIA’s headquarters in Jakarta to explore deeper collaboration between the two institutions.

This visit marked Prof. Brodjonegoro’s second engagement with ERIA, following his initial visit as Dean-designate. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation to produce timely and actionable policy research that supports Asia’s policymakers – particularly in addressing the persistent challenge of the middle-income trap faced by many developing economies in the region.

Discussions centred on potential areas for joint efforts, including collaborative research, capacity-building programmes, and high-level policy dialogues. President Watanabe welcomed the initiative, reaffirming ERIA’s commitment to working closely with Prof. Brodjonegoro and the ADBI team.

The visit underscores the shared ambition of ERIA and ADBI to contribute to long-term economic transformation across the region through evidence-based policymaking and institutional collaboration.
