Haekal Akbar Kartasasmita joined ERIA in May 2025 as a Research Associate in the Economics Unit. He holds a Master’s degree in Engineering and Policy Analysis from the Technische Universiteit Delft, where he specialised in economics and finance. His academic background has equipped him with the ability to apply engineering-based tools—such as data analytics, simulation, and systems modelling—in the context of policy analysis.

Prior to joining ERIA, Haekal worked as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Urban Science and Policy Lab, where he contributed to research on urban development and human mobility. His work involved managing and analysing micro-level data, including demographic statistics, mobility surveys, and household data. He also conducted research on social vulnerability in the context of disaster risk, focusing on the development of measurement methodologies using socio-economic data.
