Manila, 4 February 2025: As the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) 2021–2025 nears completion, efforts are underway to shape a sustainable, inclusive, and future-ready roadmap for the next phase. To support this initiative, ERIA, in collaboration with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), EY Malaysia, and the Securities Commission Malaysia (ACMF Chair for 2025), facilitated the Philippines Visioning Workshop in Manila.
The workshop brought together over 30 key stakeholders, including representatives from Philippine capital market associations, banks, market infrastructure providers, publicly listed companies, and SEC officials. His Excellency Emilio Benito Aquino, Chairperson of the SEC, welcomed the ACMF Secretariat delegation, emphasising the importance of collaboration between regulators and market players to ensure a well-rounded, forward-looking action plan.
Following this, Noor Azmizi Abdul Malek, Deputy Director of Strategy and Research at the Securities Commission Malaysia, provided an overview of the upcoming ACMF Action Plan 2026–2030, setting the context for discussions.
The workshop focused on refining strategic initiatives under the eight key priorities endorsed by ACMF Deputies in January 2025. Participants engaged in discussions to identify challenges, gather insights, and formulate actionable recommendations from the perspective of Philippine capital market stakeholders. Their contributions will play a vital role in shaping ASEAN’s capital market agenda, ensuring that the next ACMF Action Plan is responsive to regional needs and adaptable across all ASEAN Member States.
