Kuala Lumpur, 16 June 2025: On the sidelines of Energy Asia 2025, ERIA convened a closed-door roundtable titled ‘Realising Multilateral Power Trade Markets in ASEAN: Private Sector Perspectives on APG Investment and Market Formation.’ The session gathered regional institutions and private sector leaders to share practical insights on advancing ASEAN’s energy transition through scalable, actionable solutions.

Discussions reaffirmed the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC)’s growing role as a platform for structured, solution-oriented dialogue between governments and industry. With momentum building around the ASEAN Power Grid (APG), participants stressed the importance of continued cooperation amongst AZEC partner countries to address technical, regulatory, and financial challenges.

The roundtable concluded with a shared commitment to accelerating concrete project development under the AZEC framework – particularly in support of multilateral power trade and next-generation clean energy technologies.

ERIA extends its appreciation to all participants for their valuable contributions. Key insights and recommendations will be disseminated in the coming months.
