ASEAN countries continue to face persistent challenges in disaster management, environmental degradation, and maritime security. In this context, space technologies have emerged as valuable tools, offering advantages such as wide coverage, regular monitoring, and resilience under adverse surface conditions.

This study provides a structured assessment of current applications of space technologies in ASEAN, supplemented by findings from four pilot projects that explored their practical use across the region. The pilots highlight benefits, operational conditions, and implementation challenges, with adoption constrained by factors such as infrastructure gaps, limited private-sector participation, and underinvestment in research and development.

Drawing on these insights, the report proposes a collaborative framework to strengthen the integration of space technologies in ASEAN. It underscores the importance of coordinated action amongst government, industry, academia, and international partners to maximise benefits and address shared regional challenges.
