Delegation of the Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies (GSAPS) of Waseda University led by Mr. Shunji MATSUOKA, Professor, Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies, Waseda University, General Manager of Campus Asia-EAUI (East Asian University Institute) Program, visited ERIA Annex Office on February 1, 2013.
Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura, Executive Director of ERIA, and Mr. Yasushi Iwata, General Manager of ERIA, welcomed the delegation. In 2011 the proposal for an "East Asian University Institute (EAUI) for Asian Regional Integration" led by the Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies (GSAPS) of Waseda University was approved by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) under the "Re-Inventing Japan Project". This concept will receive subsidies from MEXT through academic year 2015 for a "Campus Asia Core Center" formed by a coalition of five universities: Korea University (Korea), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Peking University (China), Thammasat University (Thailand). The center will run education programs in Asian regional cooperation and integration as well as programs of joint research.
The delegation explained the details of our project. Both parties exchanged views on the possibilities of their collaboration.
