Bandar Seri Begawan-11 September,2013:World-class economists will discuss ways and means to empower small and medium enterprises to take advantage of ASEAN economic integration.

Experts from Harvard University will join regional and local scholars on September 14, 2013 to identify common strategies to promote long-term SME development cooperation, which will include training, advisory and financial support.

The one-day symposium, "SME development and innovation towards a people-centered ASEAN Community," is co-organized by Universiti Brunei Darussalam-ERIA-Harvard University. Experts will take up issues on how to enhance innovation and technology capacity of ASEAN SMEs, ways to accelerate ASEAN economic integration with an equitable, people-centered and continued regional growth.

The symposium's outcome would be part of the policy's recommendations in response to the ASEAN aspiration under the banner for "Our People, Our Future Together."

Speakers include Prof Dennis Encarnation, Senior Fellow, Asia Studies Center, Harvard University, Dr. Donghyun Park, Principal Economist, Asian Development Bank, Prof ShujiroUrata, Waseda University and Senior Research Advisor of ERIA.

The focal point for the event is the Faculty of Business and Economics, Institute of Policies Studies of UBD.
