Executive Director of ERIA attends the 6th Dialogue between FJCCIA and Secretary General of ASEAN

Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura, Executive Director of ERIA was invited to the 6th Dialogue between the Federation of Japanese Chambers of Commerce and Industry in ASEAN (FJCCIA) and Secretary General of ASEAN, H.E. Mr. Le Luong Minh on July 12, 2013 in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Purpose of this Dialogue initiated in 2008 to facilitate mutual coordination and contribute to regional economic development while improving business environments for Japanese enterprises through dialogue with the ASEAN Secretariat.

Responding to the requests from FJCCIA at its 5th Dialogue last year, ASEAN Secretariat shared the current progress of FJCCIA requests in February 2013. Thus, at this 6th Dialogue, FJCCIA conducted an evaluation from Japanese business community's viewpoints and submitted new requests to the ASEAN Secretariat in 2014.

H.E. Mr. Le Luong Minh, Secretary General of ASEAN made a keynote address. He said that the dialogue was a good mechanism for assessing implementation of comprehensive measures to realize the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) goal in 2015. Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura stated in his speech that the FJCCIA Dialogue is deeply involved in ASEAN can help make ASEAN more attractive to investors, stronger, and more dynamic and inclusive.

During the Dialogue, a lively discussion to further improve business environment for Japanese companies operating in ASEAN was conducted.
