ERIA Organizes the Workshop on "Disaster Risks, Social Preferences, and Policy Effects"

The Workshop on "Disaster Risks, Social Preferences, and Policy Effects: Field Experiment Studies in Selected East Asia" for ERIA's research project, fiscal year 2013-14 was held on January 13, 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The participant was Prof. Fukunari Kimura, ERIA's Chief Economist, Prof. Yasuyuki Sawada, Professor of the University of Tokyo, Project Leader and Working Group (WG) members from ERIA, ASEAN member states and China. The objective of this first workshop is to have an overview of the project and to discuss research proposals and methodologies.

During the meeting, the WG members discussed about the scope, methodologies, preliminary results, and exchanged views about the potential policy implications and ways forward to be incorporated in the conduct of the research and completion of the papers.

The WG members plan to adjust their methodologies after receiving inputs from the rest of the members and to conduct field experiments, complete and submit the papers to ERIA, and present the final results at the final workshop, which will be scheduled to be held in June 2014.
