Over the past decade, the number of women becoming entrepreneurs had been increasingly steadily within ASEAN. Digitalisation has been a major enabling factor, empowering many women to start small businesses from the comforts of their own homes. In some cases, what were once remote and traditional female artisans have also jumped onto the digital bandwagon to bring their products beyond their local and domestic shores, to a wider regional and global audience. The pandemic has brought many businesses to a stand-still. Yet, New e-commerce initiatives are being rolled out in several countries, providing more opportunities for women to start small businesses and embark on the entrepreneurial journey. There are obvious challenges in this journey, more in the current environment.
Has the pandemic led to a boom in women becoming entrepreneurs, or has it been a bane? Join us to discuss these issues with three ASEAN women entrepreneurs, as well as two international experts, as they share their thoughts in this fourth webinar of the ERIA MSME Talk series organised in collaboration with Curated Connectors.
