Dissemination on RCEP Agreement for Lao PDR

The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) - the world’s largest trade deal - came into effect in early 2022. For Lao PDR, RCEP will create favourable trade, investment, and tourism conditionsTo increase awareness of the agreement and the opportunities created by it, ERIA’s Capacity Building Programme, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MOIC), brings the socialisation of RCEP chapters, benefits and opportunities to the regional level in northern and southern provinces of Laos.

The regional workshop will focus on a session on the overall provision of RCEP, sessions
dedicated to explain RCEP chapter related to the specific characteristic of the host city, followed by panel discussion from government and business sector.

  1. Overview and explanation RCEP Agreement.
  2. Potential benefits of the specific chapter related to characteristic of the host city (i.e: in LuangPrabang the workshop will explore RCEP Chapter on Trade in Service and Investment whilethe Savannakhet workshop will explore RCEP Chapter on Trade in Goods).
  3. Exchange discussion between government and business sector on the implementation
    process, opportunities and challenges of RCEP.
