The 3rd Meeting for ERIA Energy Research Institute Network Held to Explore Energy Issues in EAS Region

The 3rd ERIA Energy Research Institute Network (ERIN) meeting was held on 27 September 2015 at the ERIA Annex office.

The meeting was opened by Dr. Romeo Pacudan, Chairperson of ERIN, CEO of Brunei National Energy Research Institute (BNERI). Dr. Asclepias Indriyanto, Chairperson of Executive Board, Indonesian Institute for Energy Economics (IIEE) Indonesia gave the keynote remarks.

Mr. Masakazu Toyoda, CEO and President of the Institute of Energy and Economics, Japan (IEEJ) introduced the draft ERIN statement on 'EAS Way of Energy Cooperative Forum' that outlines joint activities and a declaration that ERIN will develop and promote mutually beneficial energy policies for the region.

He said that 'energy cooperation in the EAS region is key to achieving the "3E+S," namely energy security, economic, environment and safety.'

The meeting also discussed policy recommendations for the upcoming 9th EAS Energy Ministers Meeting.

In his closing remarks, Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura, President of ERIA, said that ERIA would like to implement the energy research proposals given by ERIN members at the meeting and provide them as policy recommendations to the Energy Ministers Meeting this year.

ERIN is expected to deliver constructive policy messages to ERIA and to energy ministers in EAS countries.
