Executive Director of ERIA is Invited to OECD Southeast Asia Regional Forum

Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura moderated the high level panel of OECD Southeast Asia Regional Forum on "Regional Competitiveness for Sustained Growth" on March 26, 2014 in Bali, Indonesia. The Forum brought together high-level officials and experts from Southeast Asia and OECD countries, as well as representatives from international organizations, civil society and business partners.

It was opened by H.E. Mr. Muhammad Chatib Basri, Minister of Finance, Indonesia and H.E. Mr. Angel Gurria, Secretary-General of OECD.Prof. Nishimura moderated the high level panel 2 on "Effective Strategies for Sharing the Benefits of Sustained Growth" together with the panelists, H.E. Dr. Kantha Phavi Ing, Minister, Ministry of Woman's Affairs of Cambodia, H.E. Mr. Linda Amalia Sari Gumelar, Minister, Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection of Indonesia, H.E. Prof. Bambang Brodjonegoro, Vice-Minister, Ministry of Finance of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Nguyen Chi Dzung, Vice-Minister, Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam, and Mr. Jose Emmanuel P. Reverente, Undersecretary, Department of Finance of Phillipines.

Prof. Nishimura said "Southeast Asia countries are strengthening efforts to improve their social and economic policy environment to ensure sustained growth such as Tax, education, SME and innovation". Also, he showed his strong confidence that OECD can play an important role also in this region because OECD has abundant experiences to help developing economies to realize economic development in a sustained manner.
