Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura, Executive Director of ERIA, paid a courtesy call on H.E. U Wunna Maung Lwin, Union Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on November 29, 2013 in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.

Prof. Nishimura explained to the Hon. Minister about ERIA's role to support ASEAN Chair and what ERIA has been contributing so far for Myanmar's Chairmanship. In addition, Prof. Nishimura introduced Myanmar Comprehensive Development Vision (MCDV) that ERIA has just completed together with Government of Myanmar, which will provide valuable inputs for long-term development plan and growth strategy of Myanmar. He also promised ERIA's best efforts to give inputs to Myanmar's Chairmanship with the theme of "Moving Forward in Unity towards a Peaceful and Prosperous Community".

The Minister noted ERIA's contributions to move ASEAN forward towards the establishment of ASEAN Community into and beyond 2015. Both shared their views on the importance of Myanmar's chairmanship of ASEAN next year and how ASEAN finalizes its plan to be a regional community by the end of 2015. They reaffirmed continued future cooperation between the ERIA and Myanmar.
