Dr Kusano holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Japan. He has eight years of experience in research on food supply and demand, focusing on Asian countries including China, Mongolia, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar. He built partial equilibrium models for major crops in Cambodia and Laos under a FAO project. He has been involved in a collaborative study on food value chain with OECD, which is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan since 2016. He conducts research to identify specific obstacles to, and appropriate measures for, the development of efficient food value chains in ASEAN countries.
